She is celebrated as the first woman in India to penetrate the glass ceiling in the Steel, Oil, and Gas sectors. Her leadership at Jindal SAW, part of the OP Jindal Group—one of India's largest industrial houses—has resulted in significant organizational growth.

An alumna of Shri Ram College of Commerce and a Silver Medalist from the Fore School of Management, Ms. Jindal's academic credentials underscore her business acumen. Ms. Jindal's hands-on leadership style has been a driving force behind her success. She began her career in her late teens at Swastik Foils, a unit of Jindal SAW Ltd., where she transformed a struggling operation into a profitable venture within her first year. In 1997, she transitioned to Jindal SAW Ltd., quickly ascending to the role of Managing Director. The company secured major international contracts under her stewardship with diversification and international expansion. The move into sustainable energy, particularly with the Waste-to-Energy plant in Delhi through Jindal Urban Infrastructure Limited (JUIL) is a commendable step towards environmental sustainability.

Her commitment to environmental sustainability is further evident in her proactive measures, such as implementing effluent treatment and eco-friendly processes long before government regulations mandate such actions. Jindal SAW Ltd. was among the first companies to achieve all necessary environmental clearances and earned ISO 9002, 14001, and 18001 certifications, reflecting her dedication to employee welfare, safety, and excellence in business practices.

Under her guidance, ARUNIM experienced remarkable growth, increasing its turnover from Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore in just one year, demonstrating her effective leadership and commitment to making a positive impact.

Ms. Sminu Jindal's leadership in advancing the cause of accessibility through Svayam is a testament to the power of dedicated advocacy. By focusing on creating an inclusive environment, Svayam has become a beacon of hope for many, championing the rights and dignity of people with reduced mobility. The organization's comprehensive approach, from auditing infrastructure to influencing policy, exemplifies a commitment to building a world where accessibility is not an afterthought but a fundamental aspect of design.
