Our dedicated Barge repair and maintenance division, JITF Shipyards Limited, is in Kolkata — a key hub for inland waterway logistics, often referred to as a “Valley of Ships and Barges.” The docking operations at our facility are uniquely influenced by tidal patterns, requiring expert coordination and precision.
At the core of our shipyard operations is a team of 21 highly skilled professionals, each with extensive industry experience. These individuals are proactive, technically adept, and committed to ensuring the safety, quality, and punctuality of all barge repairs and docking processes. They play a vital role in maintaining and servicing our fleet, as well as overseeing work for third-party charterers.
Our primary business focus is providing barges to charterers on a bareboat or time charter basis. We emphasize timely repair and scheduled maintenance of all barges, ensuring operational reliability and extended service life. In addition to managing our own fleet, we also offer maintenance services to external clients, supporting the broader maritime industry.
To further enhance business sustainability and cash flow, our barges operate along the Indo–Bangladesh Protocol Routes (NW-1 and NW-2). These barges are primarily engaged in the transportation of fly ash, rice, coal, and other bulk commodities, including local lighterage of food grains and fertilizers Cargo.
