In the 1980s, with foreign exchange shortages, Jindal SAW began producing Carbon Steel Pipe with Submerged Arc Welding, reducing reliance on foreign imports and driving down prices. The company’s first API License was obtained in 1986, and by 1994, it expanded globally. With over 19,000 Kilo Meters of Submerged Arc Welded pipes exported, Jindal SAW now operates seven advanced manufacturing plants and is known for its innovative, high-quality pipe solutions, including anti-corrosion and offshore line pipe coatings. It remains a leading supplier to the oil and gas industry worldwide.

Monel Sheathing

To safeguard offshore pipelines above seawater, Jindal SAW applies Monel Sheathing. This process involves welding a 5mm-thick Monel strip, rigorously tested for 100% dye penetration. Metallographic examination ensures that longitudinal and circumferential welds are free of slag inclusions and cracks.

Post weld heat treatment is normally carried out to remove the thermal stress developed during welding of high wall thickness pipes . PWHT will help in improving the integrity of weld zone and shall improve the resistance to Hydrogen embrittlement, improving ductility and help in getting desired fracture toughness on weld zones.
